Katten’s Newest Partner Focuses on M&A and Fashion Industry

Chicago-headquartered law firm Katten has added Ilana Lubin to its mergers and acquisitions and private equity practice in New York.

As a partner with the firm, Ms. Lubin will be active advising companies across numerous industries on domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, as well as on divestiture and joint venture transactions, particularly those in the retail, apparel, footwear, accessory and beauty sectors.

In addition to advising on mergers and acquisitions, Ms. Lubin counsels clients on other strategic corporate and commercial matters, and her practice often sits at the intersection of traditional retail operations, digitization and entertainment.

Ms. Lubin is skilled at advising on celebrity endorsements and the licensing of celebrity, entertainment and fashion brands, and she represents retailers, consumer products companies and brand owners in connection with the development of celebrity-branded and -founded consumer product lines. Additionally, she provides counsel on implementing the revival and expansion of brands internationally, including in Europe, Asia and South America.

“Ilana’s reputation for excellence precedes her. She is an exceptional attorney whose outstanding skills and pragmatic approach will deepen our industry-leading client services,” said Kimberly Smith, global chair of Katten’s corporate department and co-chair of the firm’s global mergers and acquisitions and private equity practice.

Before joining Katten, Ms. Lubin was with Washington DC-headquartered Crowell & Moring for more than seven years, most recently as a partner in its New York office.

Katten’s mergers and acquisitions/private equity practice has decades of experience in a range of transactions, including leveraged buyouts and other acquisitions, dispositions, equity and debt financings, restructurings, and recapitalizations. Each year, the firm’s deal teams advise private equity firms, strategic acquirers, family offices, and independent sponsors on transactions with billions of dollars in value.

Katten has nearly 650 attorneys with locations across the United States and in London and Shanghai.
